In this tutorial, I will be teaching you how to create a glossy orb for any use. Let's get started.
First, create a new file with the dimensions of 500x500. Set you foreground to #FFFFFF and your background to #DEDEDE and select the gradient tool (if you don't see it, right-click on the Paint Bucket tool and select the Gradient tool). Now, go up to the Options bar (the panel under the menu bar) and there should be a color bar. Double-click on it, and in the new window, select "Foreground to Background". Now click "OK".
Drag your mouse from the top to the bottom with the gradient. You should get an effect like this:
Now, create a new layer and grab the Elliptical Marquee tool. Make a selection in a perfect circle. (To make a perfect circle, hold down Shift and drag). Select the Gradient tool again and set your foregrount to #08C8E5 and your background to #0399C4. Do the same as you did before and deselect it. Now right click on the layer you just made and select "Blending Options". Go down to the Outer Glow tab and enter these settings:
Now go down to the Inner Glow tab and enter these settings:
Now grab the Burn tool and set the brush size to 65, range to midtones, and exposure to 50%. Brush around the bottom and top a few times. After all that is done, you should now have something like this:
Now, Ctrl+Click on your orb layer and your whole orb should be selected. Make a new layer and take the Elliptical Marquee tool and in the Options bar, set it to "Subtract from Selection". Then make a selection for however much you would like to deselct. Fill your selection with white, and set the opacity to 12%. You should have something like this:
Time for the text. Select the Text tool and set the color to white if you haven't already. Choose the font "Tahoma" and then write your text. Duplicate that layer and then go to Edit> Transform> Flip Vertical. Move the test so it is directly under the other text layer. Now set the opacity of the flipped layer to 30% and change the blending to "Soft Light". Change the blending also to "Soft Light" to the other text layer. Your final image should look something like this:
